Poppin Reading Series Complete Kit
The Poppin Sound-by-Sound Storybooks provide young children with reading practice for phoneme-based reading programs. These popular storybooks have been used successfully in classrooms as well as clinical settings. Now the series has been expanded to include the basic reading and spelling expectancies (spelling rules and patterns). These 15 books follow the same sequence pattern as the LiPS program. They begin with 6 consonant and 3 vowel sounds in simple consonant-vowel-consonant form. A delightful story has been specifically designed for practicing each new set of sounds and symbols and moves smoothly into practice of the basic expectancies. In addition to the expectancies, from “e on the end,” to “sounds of x, y, and qu,” more complex and compound words and inflectional endings are integrated into the text. Story illustrations are designed to stimulate curiosity and comprehension without cueing the words to be decoded.
The Teacher’s Guide has been expanded to include reproducible worksheets, games, word cards and other supplemental activities to augment retention of the material. The new Sound-By-Sound Teacher¹s Guide is an invaluable companion resource to the fifteen Sound-By-Sound Storybooks in the implementation of a phonetic approach to reading.
